ARCHITECTURE

Peak Tower, Hong Kong

Located at the top of Mount Victoria, The Peak Tower offers panoramic views over the spectacular city and has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong. The primary aim of the revitalization programme was to maintain the spirit of the original design, while injecting new vigour and a sense of festivity into the building. This was achieved by restructuring the interior to increase the usable floor area and maximise retail opportunities.

A new viewing gallery was added to the roof level of the tower, while the original viewing terrace on the podium deck was transformed into new shops and restaurants. Circulation efficiency was improved by the introduction of new escalators, adding a new entrance at the east end of the tower and redefining the main entrance. A new, transparent atrium was added to the central void, providing a new gathering place for visitors and space where special events can be staged.
