ARCHITECTURE

Ocean Terminal Extension, Hong Kong

The extension to the Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui is new destination for entertainment and exceptional waterfront experience. Benefited from its location of being in the foremost end of the long landing stage and the southern end of Harbour City, visitors can enjoy 270 degree panoramic view of Victoria Harbour from this new extension. With GFA of approximately 9,000 sq. m., this 4-storey hub comprises a cruise terminal hall, an arcade, shops and F&B facilities.

The building in the form of cascading terraces looking out towards the harbour favours alfresco dining and leisure activities, as well as the creation of open space connecting the indoor and outdoor environment. Another highlight is the open-to-public “Ocean Terminal Deck” on the rooftop of the building which offers grass lawn and outdoor stepped seating area. Natural light can penetrate deep into the internal atrium through the glass of the steps, which not only save energy but strengthen the interaction between the interior and outdoors.

RLP worked as an Executive Architect and collaborated with the renowned design architectural firm, Foster + Partners in this project. Associated addition and alteration works for upgrading the existing Ocean Terminal is also included to enhance visitors’ overall shopping experience.
