ARCHITECTURE

KOHO, Hong Kong

KOHO is located on Hung To Road in Kwun Tong, in close proximity to Kwun Tong MTR station and the Kwun Tong waterfront. The existing building was built in 1980 as a wool factory. Revitalize under-used industrial buildings through wholesale conversion projects, it was then transformed into a brand new commercial development while maintaining the internal and external characteristics of the building as much as possible, with the only amendments to the layout being made to cater for the current building reg ulations and to enhance the services provided to users.

The most significant changes were the upgrade made to the existing façades at the front and rear of the building – changing from the high-level slot windows to a full-height window wall system maximizing natural light and ventilation into the building. The design of the façades included vertical expressions made by architectural fin features, providing a modular breakdown of the façade while making reference to the original façade.
